Former Yoshida Family Residence and Historic Park

A Portal through time

Stepping into the courtyard of the Former Yoshida Family Residence makes you feel out of time. Standing on the old pavement, you are surrounded by the well-maintained garden at the main house. Entering the house leads directly into the old kitchen. The room is filled with the natural smell of wood, and looking up at the high ceiling you marvel at the skillful construction of the thatched roof. Walking through the rest of the house, you take off your shoes before stepping onto the soft tatami flooring, slightly giving in under the weight of your feet. There are almost no limitations on where you can explore. All the different parts of the residence are connected, and the organic smell of tatami is everywhere. Going to the “Shoin” (study) of the house gives you the best view. Sit down on the tatami, relax, and take a long look at the Japanese garden through the glass facade. Different seasons change the view completely, with the white cover of snow in winter and the blooming pink Sakura trees in spring.
