The Power of Support

Kashiwa Reysol is Kashiwa’s soccer team founded in 1992. Normally a soccer team has 11 players on the field, but a soccer aphorism says, “the fans are the 12th man.” In Reysol’s case, the fans are even more than that. They seem to be the driving force behind the whole team. Win or lose, their support and chants are inspiring. Sitting in the regular seats, some of Reysol’s biggest fans come by and organize support for their team. They encourage people to rhythmically wave their scarfs and stand up for the players during the entrance and introduction of the team. The fans in the home corner cheer their team on with constant drums and chants, while jumping up and down. But everything is done peacefully. Kashiwa Reysol’s stadium has a very homey atmosphere. The seats and the soccer field are so close together, you can smell the fresh grass and see the players clearly. Feeling like you could just walk onto the playing field allows you to completely immerse yourself in the game.
